The Show

The most important “Show” of The 10,000 Hours Show is young people volunteering thousands of hours at area nonprofits to help meet real needs in their communities. By volunteering and registering with 10K, new volunteers make a difference, learn about themselves and develop skills, and get to go to an awesome concert. People who are already volunteering can stand up and be counted by registering with 10K, encouraging their friends to get involved and rocking the concert along the way.

10K’s concert, however, still rocks. It is a unique celebration of service that takes the best parts of “normal” concerts – great bands, great atmosphere, great times – and makes them better – an all-volunteer audience, a community saying thanks, and performers who care.

We rock the concert, but only if we rock the community first.

Ticketing

To earn your concert ticket, your volunteer hours MUST be verified online by the non-profit organization where performed your service. Doing so can sometimes be difficult for busy nonprofits volunteer coordinators. Please communicate with them about your participation in the 10,000 Hours Show to make sure they are aware of this process. If your volunteer site has questions or concerns, please have them contact our Non-Profit Liaison at 10kdccommunity@gmail.com. To see if you hours are verified, please log in to your user account on www.volunteeryourtime.org.

Remember all your hours must be submitted online by April 1, 2009.

Tickets will be available beginning in March 2009. You will receive an email containing details of pick up locations and when tickets are available.

Booking a Band

…is tougher than it sounds! Our volunteer staff works very hard to produce a concert of the highest quality to recognize the great work of participating volunteers.

Important things to remember about 10K’s concert process:

Tours are often only finalized a few months in advance. 10K Dane County's spring performer may not be announced until February or March of that year.
10K performers do NOT play for free. Price factors heavily into 10K Dane County's band selection decision.
You don’t have to already be a fan of the band to enjoy the concert! The event will be a unique celebration of service that gives you the chance to take a stand for volunteering, meet a view friends, and maybe discover a new favorite band.
Rock stars are rock stars, and 10K does not have control over what they say during the concert or anytime.

The 10,000 Hours Show Dane County follows a standardized process for band selection developed in consultation with its partners, 10K volunteer staff, and other community leaders.

Is there a band you think we should look into? Email their information to us at 10kdcEventProduction@gmail.com. Due to the volume of requests we cannot respond to these notes, but we are reading them and want to hear from you!
