Q. What is The 10,000 Hours Show?
A. The 10,000 Hours Show (10K) is a student-led effort to recruit and recognize volunteers who directly serve local nonprofits. It culminates each spring with a free concert that's just for volunteers.
Q. Why should I even volunteer?
A. Volunteering is great for many reasons - helping others, learning new skills, meeting new people, having fun, looks great on a resume, not to mention that warm fuzzy feeling you get inside when you work to make your community a better place.
VOLUNTEERING
Q. I already volunteer. Can I still go to the show?
A. Of course, just register your service that you are already doing!
Q. I'm too busy to volunteer.
A. Ten hours over the next few months is not that much time. You have until March 15, 2008!
Q. So do I only have to do 10 hours?
A. Our minimum is 10 hours to receive a concert ticket, but you're welcome to volunteer more than 10 hours if you'd like to!
Q. When is the last day to volunteer?
A. You must have your hours completed and verified by your non-profit organization before you pick up a ticket around 1-2 weeks before the concert date.
Q. I already volunteer, but I don't like the band.
A. You should still sign up to show your support for volunteering in the community. Nobody is going to make you go to the show. Successful numbers though will help ensure that we will be around next year and then we might be able to get your favorite band.
Q. What happens if I don't complete all 10 hours?
A. The 10K monster will undoubtedly come attack you while you sleep. No really, nothing will happen, except that you will miss out on a really sweet concert celebrating volunteerism!

CONCERT/TICKETING
Q. Where do I get my ticket for the concert?
A. Tickets will be distributed on your campus when we get closer to the concert. If you are unable to pick up your ticket during the designated distribution times you may also pick it up at the concert venue on the day of the show.
Q. If I volunteer 20 hours, can I get two tickets?
A. No, only volunteers may receive tickets to the concert. We distribute one ticket per volunteer who has successfully completed their volunteer hours.
Q. Can I buy a ticket?
A. Absolutely not. The only way to get a ticket is by volunteering 10 hours or more.
Q. What band are you guys going to get?
A. We'll announce the band in the spring. Last year we had Robert Randolph & the Family Band. Other 10,000 Hours Show performers have included Cake, Guster, and Ben Folds. This year, we will get someone of similar caliber. It's going to be a great show!
Q. How awesome is The 10,000 Hours Show?
A. Very awesome. Maybe even fantastic.
